Help users filter blog posts by theme

| Pascal Vleugels | |

The blog module allows you to post messages on the website. These posts are displayed on the website in chronological order. To make it easier to find a post within a certain theme, new filter options have been added.

The purpose of the blog may differ per website or per target group. Some like to show news items within a certain theme specifically for a certain target group, while others prefer to show all messages and let visitors find their own information.

Earlier, the option to combine posts from multiple blog overviews into one overview was realised. A logical follow-up wish is the addition of a filter option, allowing a visitor to search for a desired post himself.

An extra option called 'blog keywords' has therefore been added to the website's content management system. This functionality makes it possible to create a filter within a blog overview that searches within the blog categories and tags.

For instance, each keyword has its own name, language, category and/or tag. The language determines in which language the filter can be used. This makes it possible to use different filters for the Dutch website than for the English website. The category and/or tag ultimately take care of the actual filtering. For instance, you can filter all posts that use a category 'design', or a tag 'summer'.

On each blog page, you set which filters are allowed to be active. This makes it possible to deviate per blog page and only show really relevant filters.
