How to highlight entrepreneurs on your website

| Pascal Vleugels | |

In our fortnightly plaece.base update mailing, we asked our partners how they would like to put their entrepreneurs in the spotlight on the website. In this article, you will find the results of the questionnaire and the actions we are now preparing.

You may want to highlight certain entrepreneurs on the website. Or that you secretly consider them "more important" than other entrepreneurs.

We are exploring how best to do that and what you would like. We do this under the heading: "Promotions".

How it could work:

In plaece.base, you create a new "promotion". This can be e.g. bronze, silver, gold. Each promotion has a certain "value". Then you link the promotion to a location/event in plaece.base. The value of the promotion takes care of sorting in the overviews. The greater the value, the more important.

The following features are most appreciated:

1: Featured tiles in the overviews

An entrepreneur with a promotion can be given a different design, making it stand out more. For example, by using a background colour or special label.

The biggest preference was to highlight entrepreneurs in the overviews. By means of an eye-catching tile, or an extra visual element, "important" entrepreneurs can be displayed distinctively.

2: Special pop-up on the map

On the map, an entrepreneur's pop-up (with a promotion) can be provided with an extra eye-catching element or appearance.

The visual differentiation from other entrepreneurs can also be extended to the map. Entrepreneurs with a promotion "look different" from entrepreneurs without one.

3: Show only entrepreneurs with promotions in an overview

Right now, you can already create overviews based on tags or markers. But wouldn't it be interesting to do this based on promotions as well? You can (for example) create "paid" positions on the homepage for entrepreneurs with a promotion.

4: More eye-catching pin on the map

On the interactive map, an entrepreneur's drawing pins (with a promotion) get a more eye-catching look.

Other insights

  • Only administrators of plaece.base are allowed to create 'promotions
  • Not only plaece.base information, but also content and blogs should be "promotable
  • An entrepreneur's POI detail page (with a promotion) may look different
  • Promotions are "paid" listings. I arrange the payments and administration myself (or process this in another form of contract)
  • Promotions are "paid" listings, but do not have to be directly payable online

In development

We are currently busy taking the first steps based on all your requirements. The creation of "Promotions" is already available as a module in plaece.base.

Example of promotion in plaece.base

The next step is to make the "Promotions" available in the API and implement a different design in the website. We will keep you posted!
