Marketing automation for tourism organisations

| Pascal Vleugels | |

Marketing automation is hot. And now also within reach for tourism organisations. By using Marketing automation, you can turn visitors into bookers.

What is marketing automation?

There are many (difficult) definitions for marketing automation, but the main goal is to convert leads into buyers. It is about collecting data from your visitors via various contact moments, in order to send them more information at a later (relevant) time. This could be additional information about a topic they were looking for, or a specific offer (purchase intent). All this in an automated system, so you don't have to do much manual work for it.

Through smart segmentation, you can ensure that you send the right visitors the right content at the right time.

Imagine the following situation:

A visitor books an overnight stay for the coming weekend. He receives his ticket directly via e-mail. In addition, he also receives an overview of the current entertainment agenda for that weekend, plus any interesting activities or attractions (based on his preferences/profile). A simple example of the direct added value of marketing automation.

Marketing automation with Mailplus

MailPlus is a versatile programme. In addition to creating and sending newsletters, MailPlus also offers the possibility of creating forms and/or surveys. If the visitor fills in a form, this data is stored in a contact database. Integrating a form can be done in various ways. Until now, it was possible to call up a form via a button, or to let it in via an iframe.

The ultimate scenario is integrating a form within your own website. This way, visitors do not leave your website, and the form fits within the entire look and feel of the website. This is now possible in a simple and fast way.

The Mailplus pagepart

In Plaece, a new pagepart has been developed especially for MailPlus. It allows forms from a MailPlus account to be read and integrated into a web page. One form can be selected per pagepart. This means that a website editor has the freedom to decide where a form can be shown on the website.

No web builder is needed anymore (or complicated codes) to place a form on the website.

How does the Mailplus pagepart work?

MailPlus data is read through its own Application Programming Interface (API). The API is a link between MailPlus and the website in which data is exchanged between both systems. Forms can be created within the Mailplus account. When a new form is created in MailPlus and assigned the status final, it can also be used directly in the website.

PLEASE NOTE!

What you need to know is that per account in MailPlus, the API must be purchased additionally (extra service by Mailplus). When the API is activated, all data is exchanged with the website in real time.

What are the benefits?

  • The new pagepart makes it much easier and faster for users to create forms and integrate them into the website, without the need for technical work to implement and style the form.
  • Forms are automatically given the website's house style, making the form a single entity with the page and eliminating the need for MailPlus styling.
  • Forms no longer use an iframe, so referring to an (external) thank-you page can be set up in a neat way.
