Mobile First Routing Module

| Pascal Vleugels | |

The current itinerary module has received a major upgrade in terms of usability for mobile users. The entire itinerary page has been redesigned and rebuilt "Mobile First".

The route module shows all available routes from plaece.base. These can be various types of routes (walking, cycling, boating, car, etc.) Statistics show that the majority of visitors view these routes on a smartphone.

To provide the website's users with an optimal user experience on a mobile device, the entire itinerary page has been completely rebuilt with Mobile First in mind.

The detail page of a route is now ideally suited to be consulted during the route in order to successfully navigate the route.

Route information

The route start screen shows the general information of the route. The textual explanation and the option to link to an external website. In addition, the route can be added to the favourites list (if the favourites function is activated), the route can be printed or downloaded as GPX. The new mobile navigation bar ensures that the most important route information can be reached with one tap.

Linking POIs to the route

If a route is linked to specific Points Of Interest, these POIs are shown in a list view. All POIs can be provided with a click-through to a detail page.

Route description

In plaece.base, a new field is now available in the itinerary module. In this field, an extensive route description can be added. These directions are displayed as a separate tab in the route module. On a mobile device, the directions can also be "ticked off". This way, the user can keep track of which point of the route he is at.

Roadmap

The plotted route is displayed on a fullscreen map on a mobile device. This way, you can see exactly how the route runs. Using the "Explore vicinity" option, POIs "nearby" can be viewed. Here, places of interest or eateries along the route, for example, can be explored.
