Coming soon: Open Data Platform 2.0

The Open Data Platform has existed in its current form for over five years, so it is high time for an upgrade! This new version has been hard at work behind the scenes recently and is currently being tested internally.
Besides a lot of small improvements and optimisations, there are also a number of larger new functionalities that will become available in ODP 2.0:
- New start page
- Statistics dashboard for entrepreneurs
- Migration from Google Maps to ESRI
- Migration to new server structure
New start page

With the new version of the Open Data Platform, we also welcome the new homepage. In a handy overview, you can immediately see how much data you have in the Open Data Platform. You will also find shortcuts to the most frequently used actions.
Statistics dashboard for entrepreneurs

How can we give an entrepreneur insight into the statistics of his website listing? What does a listing yield and how many conversions are achieved? All these questions are answered the statistics dashboard for entrepreneurs. This new module can be enabled in the ODP to give entrepreneurs and administrators more insight into all online efforts.
By using a link to Google Analytics, all results are made transparent per entrepreneur. If you are interested in this module, please let us know!

Migration from Google Maps to ESRI

Behind the scenes, the Open Data Platform started using ESRI's map services. Previously, we used the Google API, which had some limitations that prevented us from realising the extensions we wanted. In our new partner ESRI Netherlands, we have found a reliable party with whom we can start building new functionalities together. The websites will continue to run on the current Open Street Maps (users will not see any changes), but the new ESRI connection will allow us to add additional features in the future. For ODP administrators nothing will change initially, in the near future we will introduce a new address entry, and improved route information. We'll keep you posted!
Migration to new server structure
In the background, upgrades of underlying technologies such as PHP and Symfony are nearing completion. In addition, we are in the process of migrating search technology SOLR to ElasticSearch. All this combined with the set-up of a new server structure, we are investing heavily to make the current Citynavigator platform ready for the future. Faster, more stable and more possibilities for extensions are the motivations behind this approach.
We are currently finalising the entire installation. We will keep you updated on the latest developments.
