Base Combi Map pagepart

Enable visitors to explore in a targeted way with filters for food, accommodation and experiences.

Some visitors don’t want to read; they want to see. Where can I eat, where can I stay, what’s there to do in the area – preferably all in one place.

With the Base Combi Map page part, you can provide answers to these questions using a single interactive map. This aligns with how people naturally plan: research into spatial reasoning shows that we find it easier to weigh up options when we can visualise them spatially, rather than as separate lists one below the other. Visitors can tick or untick categories themselves – such as dining, accommodation, experiences, routes, events or facilities – and the map immediately displays only the markers that match their selection.

The content comes directly from plaece.base. If you make a change, it automatically appears on the map, in every category.

Whilst the Base Map pagepart displays a fixed selection, the Base Combi Map allows you to combine multiple types of offerings on the same map.

Ideal for a central ‘discover the area’ page, but also for larger areas divided into regions or local authorities: on each regional landing page, you can then showcase the highlights of that area, with a link to the region itself for the full range of offerings.

For example, a map saves visitors from having to click endlessly between separate overviews, allowing them to decide for themselves where to explore.

This results in the Base Combi Map page component

  • Visitors can see at a glance what there is to eat, where to stay, what to experience and what to do, including routes and events
  • Filter for what’s relevant yourself, without unnecessary information
  • A central discovery page that showcases the entire area at a glance
  • It can also be used on landing pages for regions within a wider area, with a link through to the full range of offerings
  • Visitors find their way around more quickly using a map than a long list of text
